What is Life is a Ball
Life is a Ball Public Charitable Trust (LIAB) is a non-profit organization that provides sports programs to kids and teaches them invaluable life lessons through sport. Life is a Ball works with Corporation, Government, and Government-aided Schools, catering to economically disadvantaged children and introduces organized sports at every partner school. Life is a Ball Public Charitable Trust (LIAB) is registered under Section 12AA and 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1961. LIAB is also venturing into supporting deserving young Tennis players and Adventure sports athletes.
When did we begin?
LIAB started in 2011 with a football program in an orphanage that supported 30 boys. The idea began with the notion that a simple ball could add something more to a child’s life. As of March 2020 LIAB worked with 26 schools and orphanages, in Tamil Nadu and Telangana, reaching out to 10,000+ kids, promoting sport-based education in a fun and engaging fashion. LIAB deploys an experienced sports team, which includes a coach and a manager, equipped with the equipment required to implement a specially designed multi-sport curriculum.
Why Sport? Why Life is a Ball?
Life is a Ball Public Charitable Trust (LIAB) was started by a group of sport lovers who recognized the lack of importance that sports, health and fitness is given in India, and experienced first-hand, the benefits sport can have on individuals and communities when implemented correctly.
The Current Problem
The Current Problem: – Most kids in our country do not have access to sport, let alone organized sport.
Most kids in our country are discouraged from playing sport for various reasons.
The 2017 global census indicates that India is not among one of the top 150 nations in the Health Index.
Sport is undervalued in our country as the short-term or long-term benefits of it are often misunderstood.
Solution
Playing sport allows kids to experience a healthy lifestyle which encourages them to stay fit and healthy in the long run.
Sport teaches invaluable life lessons that children need in the early stages of their development. Through sport, kids have will have first-hand experience and learn about many life values in very practical ways. Examples of the values we focus on are:
Team Work • Healthy Competition • Work Ethic • Discipline • Overcoming Adversity • Respect
Sport becomes a natural way for kids to work hard together for a greater goal.
LIAB uses sport as a medium to address bigger social issues such as bullying and gender inequality, something that every kid can relate to and move beyond.
Mission & Vision
Our Vision is to make sports and its infinite benefits accessible to every child in India. Our Mission is to use sports as a tool to provide holistic education to children, develop life skills in them and mitigate social issues faced by them.
