What is Life is a Ball

LIAB is a not for profit organization registered in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, that mentors children through sport. The initiative was started in 2011. LIAB aims to transform the lives of underprivileged children by teaching them invaluable life lessons through sport and equip them with skills required to face the world with a smile on their faces and grit in their hearts. Life is a Ball works with Corporation / Government / Government aided Schools and schools catering to underprivileged children and introduces organized sports coaching for the students. LIAB has signed an MOU with the Education Department of Tamil Nadu, Telangana and has commenced work in Government Middle Schools. In addition to dealing with key issues affecting children the program also strives towards teaching children the value of Self Esteem, Team spirit….

What we do

The LIAB program currently teaches general physical fitness and a variety of sports during school hours, before / after school hours.

The program facilitates the following in the schools

  • Designs and implements a comprehensive sports curriculum developed by getFIT PE.
  • Provides sports equipment for program delivery.
  • Nurtures students to form sports teams and offers expert coaching.
  • Enrolls the teams in various tournaments and manages the teams.
  • Provides Sport kitting (Jerseys, Shoes, Stockings etc.) to the students in teams LIAB buys and distributes footballs to students to encourage participation in sport and also to create awareness about playing and having fun through sports and games.

Why we do it

The current scenario is best explained by the following numbers..

13.1 % of the people involved in drug and substance abuse in India, are below 20 years of age.
80 million indian children drop out of educational institutions without completing basic schooling.
60 million workers in India are children.
Juvenile crime rate in India has increased by 45% between 2004 and 2013.
20 million children a year and nearly 55,000 children a day are drawn into tobacco addiction in India.

Who we are

We are a group of sports enthusiasts,who joined hands to reach out to underprivileged children and provide them a platform to play sport. Life is a Ball has been giving children an opportunity to understand the amazing world of sport and the infinite benefits, sport and physical fitness would bring to an individual.

In 2011 LIAB made a humble start in Chennai, offering a basic football based sports program at an orphanage which supported 30 young boys.

LIAB now works with 2500+kids promoting sport based education in a fun and engaging fashion and is continuing to grow.
